An ordinary traffic stop in Georgia took a turn when a suspect continually asked if he could smoke. Much to their horror, officers would later learn why the man so desperately wanted to go back into the car for the pack of cigarettes — and now, they’re saying that every cop needs to see what it actually was right now.
The matter was posted to the Facebook page of the Kennesaw Police Department after a few officers ran into quite the shocking ordeal. According to police, they pulled someone over for an unreleased reason before making the person get out of the car.
The officer became rather suspicious as the driver of the vehicle seemed rather adamant about smoking a cigarette. Despite being told “no,” the suspect continued to ask if he could get back into the car and grab his pack of cigarettes.
Wondering why the driver wanted them so badly, the officer decided to go in for a closer look – and that’s when he saw what the suspect was after. Although the pack of cigarettes looked like a “normal item,” it wasn’t.
Come to find out, the suspect had disguised a functional taser to look like a pack of cigarettes, leaving many to speculate that he was intent on using it on the officer. Although the Kennesaw Police Department hopes to warn other officers on what to keep an eye out for, they actually had a message for the public as well:
Forgive us when we seem to act “too rigid” and “mean” when we say no to your request to “smoke” or “make a phone call” with your phone, etc… We’re just trying to make it home at the end of our shifts like everyone else out here.
Stay safe, everyone – its another beautiful day in Kennesaw! [Source: Facebook]
It’s a scary world we live in, and seeing how criminals are still finding new and inventive ways to conceal weapons is disturbing, to say the least. However, this is the very real threat that police officers everywhere face on a daily basis – and it’s all in the name of public service.
At the end of the day, this is why police deserve the utmost respect and cooperation from everyone. These brave men and women put their lives on the line every single day in order to keep our communities and the people within them safe – the vast majority of whom they don’t even know.
Despite the fact that they’re willing to risk it all to protect a bunch of strangers, the left wants to demonize these people. Grouping them together as a whole and punishing them for the actions of a corrupt few, the unofficial assault on police everywhere is still alive today.
The sad thing is, most of the controversy surrounding this issue stems from criminals not being held responsible for their own actions. Enough of the excuses. Police have a job to do, and if thugs weren’t trying to find new ways to try to harm or even kill them, things might not be so hard for all of us.
Relations between the public and police aren’t bad. Most people don’t mind the police, and many officers know they’re valued and appreciated. However, if you want to end the few more violent confrontations that occur between police and civilians, holding those punks who make things like this taser accountable for what they do might be a good place to start.
